World Test Championship: FAQ, Schedule and All you need to know

What is the World Test Championship and When is it going to start & End?

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) will be a league competition for Test cricket run by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which will begin from 1 August 2019 and finish with a final in England on June 2021.

The Teams who are participating in World Test Championship:

The WTC tournament will gradually and continuously play for the span of two years. England and Australia will play the first Ashes Test as a part of the Championship, starting from 1st August 2019. The first session of the WTC 2019 will conclude in June 2021 at Lord’s, London.

The top-nine ICC Test rankings teams (India, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, and Bangladesh) will take part in the tournament. Unfortunately, Zimbabwe Cricket team was recently suspended, can not participate anymore. Moreover, Afghanistan and Ireland cricket teams are still newbies in this longest form of cricket game.

How will be the Winner decided??

All the teams will be awarded a certain number of points for each match. The teams who will stand in top two positions will play the final at Lord’s, London in 2021. If in the final match ends with the draw, then the table-topper will be declared as the winner of the tournament.
