French Open 2019: Wimbledon Champion Kerber lose against 18-year old Potapova

On 26 May 2019, Wimbledon Champion Angelique Kerber lost the French Open first round against the 18-year-old debutant Anastasia Potapova.

Kerber is the Champion of the Wimbledon Championship and in the year 2018, she has won three Grand Slam titles.

Kerber has played 13th time in the French Open tournament while Potapova was debuting in the Roland-Garros. The former world No.1 Kerber was taking part with an expectation to complete the Grand Slam. She had won three Grand Slams Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open and was targeting the French Open this time.

Anastasia Potapova beat Angelique Kerber in the first two sets and upset Kerber. In the first set, Potapova took lead with the 6-2, in the second set she has scored 6-2 and won the match in style. So far, Kerber has been out in the first round of the tournament for the sixth time.Kerber has won WTA Player of the Year (2016), German Sportswoman of the Year (2016, 2018), US Open Sportsmanship Award (2016), ITF World Champion (2016) awards and she is the  World’s second-highest-paid female athlete by Forbes (2017).
