Australia’s 18 year’s wait ending after beating England in Ashes

Australia beat England by 251 runs in the first match of Ashes 2019. Since 2005, the Australian team first time won the first match of Ashes as well as won the first match at Edgbaston after 2001. With this win, the Australian team have a lead of 1-0 out of 5 matches series.

Aussies team gave a target of 398 runs on the last days which England team couldn’t chase successfully and got an all-out for 146 runs in 52.3 overs. On the final (fifth) day, England batsmen dropped their weapons against Aussies off-spinner Nathan Lyon (6 wickets) and Right-arm paceman Pat Cummins (4 wickets).

Australia had given a huge target of 398 runs with the help of centuries smashed by Steve Smith and Matthew Wade. Smith hit a century in both the inning and meanwhile maintain his for superbly. In the second innings, Smith struck out 142 with 207 balls, while Wade played nicely and scored 110 runs from 143 balls with 17 fours.

A Poor Performance gave by England’s batsmen:

On the last day of the first match, the England team were all wicket on hand to play 90 over to save the match. A poor performance shown by the England batsmen, 6 batsmen got an out in single-digit number. Opening Batman Jason Roy and Captain Joe Root got a good start but they failed to convert into a big score. Both were scored 28 runs for each. In England’s second innings, Chris Woakes was the only batsman who scored 37 runs at 9th positions. No other batman was able to surpass the 30-run mark.
